Instructor Marben joined the Tiffin University School of Business in the Fall of 2017. He has spent a great number of years working in both public and private accounting.

During his time in public accounting, he worked at Plante Moran, as well as smaller firms, totaling 7 years of experience.

He worked with clients in various industries, including: hospitals, schools, foundations, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, energy and various other small businesses. While working with these clients, Professor Marben provided audit, tax, retirement plan audit and general business consulting services.

During his 10 years in private accounting, Instructor Marben focused mostly on the oil and gas industry, where he was the controller for an independent exploration and production company in Northern Michigan.

He also taught Accounting and Finance courses for Davenport University and North Central Michigan College.

Instructor Marben received his undergraduate degree from Davenport University in 2003 and his MBA from Central Michigan University in 2005.

He is currently pursuing his PhD with Capella University.

He earned his Certified Public Accounting license from the State of Michigan in 2005 and is currently licensed by the State of Ohio.

He served the Council of Petroleum Accountants Society (COPAS) of Michigan as President, as well as the Finance Council of St. Mary’s Cathedral Parish, spending 3 years as the Chairman.

Instructor Marben enjoys running and has completed 8 marathons, including Boston (2016). He also enjoys triathlons, with the longest distance completed being the half-ironman distance.

Moreover, he enjoys hunting and camping with his family, his wife Beth and two children Emma and Jacob.
